The Denver Law Review publishes four issues per year.
We invite article submissions from professors, practitioners, judges, and law clerks. We do not consider article submissions from unaffiliated law students.
Submission Process
Articles may be submitted digitally via Scholastica or in hard copy by mail. If you are not affiliated with an academic institution, you may submit your article through email to Hayley Thomas, Senior Articles Editor. Hard-copy submissions should be addressed to:

Article submissions should be in Times New Roman, font size 12. Files should be either Microsoft Word or Adobe PDF format.
Footnotes should comply with The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (21st ed. 2020).
Submission Guidelines
All articles should follow the guidelines below:
- Article submissions should be in Times New Roman, font size 12.
- Files formats should be either Microsoft Word or Adobe PDF.
- Footnotes should comply with The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (20th ed. 2015).
- Please include an abstract of not more than 150 words.
- A current résumé or curriculum vitae.
- All submissions must include a cover letter, which should have the following:
A. The title of the manuscript;
B. E-mail address;
C. A mailing address; and
D. Daytime telephone number or a number where you may be reached.
Review Process
The optimal times to submit articles are between late February and mid-April and August through mid-October. We sometimes consider manuscripts throughout the summer; however, when we do, please allow more time for review and and for any expedited requests.
Publication Offers
Authors selected for publication will be notified by e-mail confirming the offer to publish. Once accepted, authors will then work exclusively with the Editor in Chief and the Senior Articles Editor throughout the publication process. This close relationship with the author allows for superior editing and efficiency.
Requests to Republish DLR Articles
Please send any requests to republish or reproduce previously published articles from the Denver Law Review or DLR Online to Gabriela Lopez, Editor in Chief.
Emerging Scholar Award
Each year, the Denver Law Review provides an exclusive publication opportunity for scholars who have: (1) received their J.D. as of March 1, 2025; (2) not yet accepted a tenure-track teaching position; and (3) not held full-time teaching positions for more than three years. The winner recieves an award of $500 and publication in Volume 103, Issue 1 of the Denver Law Review. We will begin accepting submissions for the 2025 Emerging Scholar Award on February 3, 2025. The submission window will close March 10, 2025. Please email all submissions to Gabriela Lopez, Editor in Chief.
